The Elderly and Alternative Home of Magog

On February 13, 2024, the Maison des Aînés et Alternatives de Magog was inaugurated. It is a type of long-term care facility offering a living environment similar to that of home, where residents actively participate in decisions regarding their daily lives and surroundings.  The house is divided into different units, each accommodating 12 people, for a total of 48 residents, including 24 elderly individuals and 24 adults with specific needs. Residents of each unit form a group of roommates who participate in decisions related to community life.

The individuals accommodated include:
- Elderly individuals experiencing a loss of autonomy with physical or neurocognitive health issues, requiring care and support in daily activities (Aînés houses).
- Adults experiencing significant loss of autonomy due to intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or physical disabilities, without severe behavioral disorders (alternative houses).

Additionally, the building features the Bolduc Mesa block, serving as a retaining wall, ideal for projects of any size, on the side and facade of the building.
