PLACE BOURGET AND COURTHOUSE, DOWNTOWN JOLIETTE

Place Bourget, downtown Joliette

The city of Joliette provided a gathering space for its citizens by redesigning the downtown area called Place Bourget. The Bolduc Avenue pavers cover an area of 67,012 square feet.

Joliette adds green spaces to give pedestrians top priority!

The City of Joliette gave Daoust Lestage Inc.the mandate of upgrading the place. “The interesting thing is that the city wished to put its personal stamp on the downtown area,” said Réal Lestage, urban planner at Daoust Lestage and principal designer for the project. “This should set an example for other towns. This project preserves the historic downtown area.

Mayor René Laurin solved two problems in one stroke! The run-down aqueduct and sewer system meant that a $7 million investment was unavoidable. “With this in mind, the municipal council decided that the time was ripe for a full overhaul of the downtown area and invested another $8 million,” explained the mayor.

Products used:  10 x 15 x 45; 10 x 15 x 30; 10 x 30 x 30 et 10 x 30 x 60 cm Avenue and Tri Appia paver of Bolduc.
