PHILLIPS SQUARE, DOWNTOWN MONTREAL

Historic Phillips Square, located on Montreal’s famous commercial street, Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, at the corner of Union Avenue, is a charming public square and the perfect place to unwind.

Phillips Square has been renovated and now offers a larger, greener, and more comfortable space. The square features a fountain with seven streams that highlight the historic monument to Edward VII and add to the atmosphere during the summer.

Phillips Square played an important role in the economic and commercial development of the famous Rue Sainte-Catherine. Built in 1842 in what was then a wealthy residential area, the public square attracted the first department stores, which began to open around it.

Henry Morgan moved his company (now The Bay) close to Phillips Square in 1891. A few years later, Henry Birks built the headquarters of Henry Birks and Son there as well.

Today, Bolduc’s Avenue and Avenue autoblocking pavers can be found on the sidewalks in front of the Birks Hotel as well as in the pavement on Union Avenue and at the corner of Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest.

Products used:  Avenue paver 10 x 30 x 30 cm, 10 x 30 x 60 cm, Avenue autoblocking paver HV (system with mortise / tenon)
