Evolo, Nuns’ Island
59,000 sq. ft. of Avenue pavers were used for the first phase.
An urban lifestyle in an ecological environment
The Evolo Project is located on Nuns’ Island, a few minutes from downtown Montreal. The new $700 million Pointe-Nord quarter gives residents the extraordinary experience of living in an ecological environment.
Christian Ducharme, landscape architect at Projet Paysage Inc. says: “The Pointe Nord project was planned from A to Z. We had to develop a whole neighbourhood, with detailed planning from the street grids to the roles of the various spaces, that respected a long term vision.” When designing the quarter, we set aside large green spaces. Residents can walk on trails landscaped on concrete pavers and enjoy waterfront parks. “The trails were designed with citizens in mind. They lead to a public plaza at the river’s edge where they connect to the Nuns’ Island bike paths. They serve as a gateway to the neighbourhood that makes the entire community feel welcome”, explained Mr. Ducharme.
Proment Corp. President Samuel Gewurz states that the Pointe Nord was designed to GOLD LEED ND (neighborhood development) standards. Architects, landscapers and builders all contributed to the undertaking that gives Montrealers access to the river’s edge.
