The biggest industrial heritage project ever built in Trois-Rivières!
The Boréalis Museum is the biggest industrial heritage project in Quebec in the past ten years. It is the only building from the 1920s that was not razed to the ground, thanks to the quick thinking of the wrecking crew. “Someone had the sudden inspiration that this would be the perfect place to relocate the Centre d’interprétation de l’industrie papetière, which was in need of new lodgings,” said Boréalis Director Valérie Bourgeois. This nearly $8 million investment gives the old Canadian International Paper (CIP) plant gets a second wind.
One citizen, Lisette Arcand, noted that the site stirs strong emotions. It brings forth our past and “we can look to our roots with pride.”
